[ Almost like a cat that wants attention, Squall follows Auron around the house in silence until he sits down at the couch. Squall sits down beside him, a small kitten now dozing off in his lap. His hand moves down to lightly stroke Fenrir’s head softly. ]

I’m sorry.... if I came at a bad time.... If you were going to bed you can go.

No, it's not too late.

[He sits on the couch with Squall, sipping hot chocolate.]

Who's your cat friend?

[ Squall leans his head against Auron’s shoulder.]

Ah.... this is one of Griever’s cats... Though you might know him as Light? I think that’s the name Cloud gave him... He is temporarily gone...

So you're watching the cat for him? I've talked to Light before. His world is strange. He says he's talked to people from Spira.

But that's not what's on your mind. [He just lets Squall stay where he is.]

Yeah.... apparently his world is another one that I exist in in some shape or form... it's pretty weird.

[ he tilted his head toward Auron before looking away. Staying silent on that matter. ]

Yeah. He says he's met Tidus and Yuna. Tidus is the one I looked after for 10 years and Yuna was the summoner on my second pilgrimage. So interesting how things worked out.

Let me see if I can take a guess why you're here and let me know if I'm right. Does this have anything to do with Sora?

[ Squall nods along a bit, giving Auron a curious look. he doesn't really hear much about Auron's home, but he never wants to seem like he's being too nosy. ]

Ah.... I guess slightly?

Did you guys have a fight or something? Or...does this have anything to do with the guy that looks like Arden?

We didn't have a fight. And Riku... is more amusing than anything. I just wanted to give them some space. He's Sora's best friend... Sora's cried a lot over him and the girl... Kairi? So I want him to be able to be with Riku as much as he wants to be.

[ He shifts over a little more, leaning into Auron's side now. ]

[That explains who that stranger is then. Especially since Sora would want a lot of time to reconnect.]

Yeah. Sora's been missing them a lot lately. So you're just trying to give them space? I know that can't be easy, but it's a very good thing that you're doing.

[ Squall really was almost like an overgrown cat. Since Auron didn't seem to be moving closer, he grabs Auron's arm and wraps it around his shoulders. ]

[He didn't want to get up in Squall's business, but since Squall seemed to need the contact, he settles the arm around his shoulders, talking quietly with him.]

What other things, Squall? Tell me.

A mixture of a lot of things... I don't know.

Rinoa went home... she was from my world... I'm not sure if you actually spoke with her... the last time I talked to her before she vanished we got into a fight... So that sucks... [ He trails off a tiny bit. ]

I don't... know what to with myself...the other day... I actually broken down... and started crying. I don't.... even know why.

I think I spoke with her once. I wasn't aware she left.

[The rest though? That deserved to be held a little tighter. While he'd been stuck on his own problems, life still kinda happened. He'd need to figure himself out so he could start being more aware of the people around him again.

So. He'd ask Regis to lunch tomorrow and maybe just talk to him. Just what Squall is doing. Because that seems to be the thing to do if he really wanted to start to find a solution.

With that mentally decided, he could help Squall now.]

This was different than that though... I've felt that way since I got here... this was different. I don't know.

[ Without disturbing the kitten's sleep, he tucks his feet under himself and curls closer to Auron. ]

I...went over to Snow's home. The girl one. With all the annoying pep and perk and cheer. And something made her happy... I guess it was me? But she gave off this scent... this warm sweet scent... it was... I don't know. It's what.... I'd imagine a mother's smell to be like...

[ Basically... he was overwhelmed with strange feelings, and since he couldn't go to sora about them, he wanted to be near the closest person to family he had here. ]

[Auron hopes his physical presence near Squall is strong and comforting to him. Because it did sound like a lot had been bouncing in his head.]

So do you feel bewildered with everything that happened? That it just hit you and you wondered what it might be like? Having a mom and just what if, what if?

It's strange, but I think smell is a really strong trigger to memory. Even if you can't quite remember, something in your soul does and that's why you're moved to cry.

Something like that... I don't know... I don't know anything about my mother or what she could possibly smell like ...Ellone said she died after I was born... and I don't remember matron's smell... She was the woman who ran the orphanage I lived in... the closest I have.. is your scent I guess...

And I'm sorry for that because I probably smell like a bar.

[But he doesn't let go of Squall.]

Sometimes feelings like that strike you. We're a lot alike in that regard. I never knew who my parents were either.

[ That gets a small laughter out of Squall. ]

I dunno, the smell of bar is kind of comforting in a way, old man.

[ He nuzzles a tiny bit closer to Auron now. ]

No...? SO I guess it's not that abnormal...

[Kind of hesitantly, unsure of how Squall will take it, he just. Puts a hand on his head and gently pets his hair.]

No. I was told Sin killed whoever they were. So I don't know if I ever had family in some other place. Grew up in the Church with a bunch of other kids with no families. We were watched by a group of priests and sisters.

[ Squall leans into the hair petting and lets his eyes fall shut. ]

That's the same... well ish... thought most orphans from my world lost their parents to the sorceress war. And the Galbadian army that sought out more power...

I guess if it's through war or a giant abomination that circles your planet, it's all the same when you get cut off from what you were. It's all lost forever.

Until you can make a new family when you're old enough.

[ He says this while hugging onto Auron's side, an embarrassed look on his face. ]
