[A part of him feels bad for disturbing Auron, while another finds it interesting to see Auron in such a peaceful state.

Quietly, Shin-Ah nodded in reply to the question.]

It's... too quiet, [he said. There were others in the house, but even that wasn't the same as hearing another person breathing even on the other side of the room. The nights were lonely.]

Too quiet? [He was still a little sleepy so it took him a moment to understand the meaning.]

You mean with your brother gone? [Well, he did say Shin-ah could harass him at any time if he needed help. He motions the dragon over.]

Come on. I'll make you some tea if you want.

[farseen]

[After a moment's thought Shin-Ah nodded his assent and joined Auron. He dusted his clothes off as he moved-- for it was clear that he had somehow managed to climb up with the odd grace of a cat, but not without a few snares along the way because of his attire and his size.]

Thank you, [Shin-Ah added softly, sounding like a bashful child more than anything else. This was a strange position for him to be in.]

[When they get to his apartment, he motions for Shin-ah to sit while Auron sleepily makes tea.

There is an addition to Auron's home, however. A blood red wyvern the size of dog is curled up in a corner of the living room. Ifrit yawns and wakes up for a moment to look at Shin-ah before curling back asleep.]

You can take the couch if you want. [Auron hands him over the tea.] I'll just be back in my room.

[Shin-Ah looked up from the tea, momentarily panicked by that notion.]

--Door?

[He asked anxiously, reaching out a hand to absently brush against the young dragon's head while he watched Auron, waiting for an answer.]

Yeah, in my room. [Although that's not quite what Shin-ah's asking, is he? He's still tired so it's taking him more than a few minutes to come up with the answer.

There are presumably other people in Shin-ah's house so it can't be that quiet. He's specifically citing his brother's absence for it being that quiet. Why would that be?]

Did you share a room with your brother?

[farseen]

[A nod. Shin-Ah was glad he didn't need to explain this much to yet another person in the short time since Kija had left the land.]

And before.... we shared a tent together.

So you can't fall asleep without someone next to you?

[There's probably some very troubling reasons Auron could come up with why that might be, if he were awake enough to ponder them.

But he isn't really. He doesn't have to worry about the windows since they're already opened so there's plenty of air. He sits down in front of his couch and rests his head on the cushion. It's not the most comfortable place to sleep, but it's certainly near to Shin-ah.]

Okay. Just finish you tea and go to sleep. I'll be right here.

[farseen]

[The reasons were troubling-- in a childish way. While the rational part of his mind knew he was being foolish, a part of him couldn't shake the forboding sense of insecurity of being surrounded by four walls in the dark... alone, even knowing that there were people he could trust with his life not more than a few feet away.

Shin-Ah looked at Auron like a puppy, faint firefly-like sparkles floating around him in his joy and gratitude at having this very basic and very silly request met by someone he trusted. Going to his friends would only make them worry, he knew. Another person wouldn't worry quite as much as they would.]

Thank you, [He said finally, taking a deep sip of the tea Auron had made to finish off the mug and allow the both of them another chance to rest. Strange as it was... this wasn't so bad.]

Glad I could help you out. [ He yawned and pillowed his head against his arm, closing his eye.]

I liked your picture of the night sky.

It's... what I saw.

[With that level of clarity that a pair of binoculars couldn't provide, it was no wonder that Shin-Ah had a difficult time in crowded parties and large cities. There was simply too much to see.]

...I see it now, too. [he added, his tone somewhat quieter now. Seeing through rooftops was considerably more unusual than even his sharp eyesight, after all.]

[That's the problem with having conversations at night. Auron knows this is probably something he should make a note of for later, but for now, falls asleep.

In spite of how hard his looks can be to some people, he does look peaceful when asleep.]
