Personality;

Should anyone just bump into Auron on the street, all they'd see is an older, quiet man who has seen his share of fighting and might seem rather stoic about being brought into another world. What they'd be missing is a man who sorrows deeply, who loves deeply and who keeps his promises, past death.

Trained as fighting monk in the Church of Yevon, Auron developed an iron will and a keen understanding of the sword. However, his own gut feelings prevented him from progressing to the higher echeleons of the church. He declined to take an easy path he felt he hadn't earned and brought the ire of his higher-ups on his head. Still, he never apologized or backed down from his decision. So even though some situations could benefit from him, Auron is the type of man not to take them if there's something that doesn't quite mesh with his personal code of honor. Whatever is the result of the decision is something he bears on his shoulders willingly.

When he joined the pilgrimage of Jecht and Braska, it seemed a fine thing, to help save the world. Braska represented something truer than the church to Yevon. And Jecht? Jecht made him angry most of the time, being nearly his exact opposite by having little self-control. Called a “stiff” by Jecht, he kept the party in line. In turn, the two of them soften a lot of his hard edges. By the very end, Auron was very close to his friends. As canon says zero about his family, I'm inclined to believe Jecht and Braska became the only family he ever had.

Which was why he lost his mind when he had to watch them both give up their lives for he felt was nothing. He kept his promises to his friends for watching over their children, even hanging on after death to find a way to avenge them and fix the terrible spiraling cycle of Sin in Spira. The sorrow he feels for his friends' deaths is something he never actually talks about. However, when the party watches a scene from the past inside Zanarkand, seeing a fateful decision about Jecht becoming the final aeon, Auron's temper snaps. He slashes at a vision of himself over and over, proving that he grieves very deeply.

When Auron believes in something, it is iron clad. When he makes a promise, he will keep it no matter what. When he loves, he hangs onto that feeling and would give up everything for the sake of that person. It might not be overly demonstrative or something he writes on a billboard for everyone to see. But his feelings give him strength and keep him going far longer than most people ever could.

He likes his drink, within reason. Drinking to continually get drunk is pointless to him. He doesn't spend a lot of time in idle chit-chat. He might seem kind of cold to those who don't know him. He can respect a fellow fighter. Getting Auron to be anything resembling social is an exercise in futility. But if you can somehow earn his respect, this is one man you'd always want backing you up.

Interesting machina you have here. [He stops as though trying to figure out what to say. He's still trying to deal with being alive again.]

I'm not even sure where to begin. At least the fayth or whoever left me my sword. And my booze.

I'll guess that before I can go where I supposed to go, I have to help out here. So...what do I have to do?
